Money Agate
This spectacular Money Agate from Indonesia is a true statement piece, filled from edge to edge with bold orbicular formations and incredible natural detail. Large chocolate-brown and nearly black orbs are surrounded by contrasting rings of cream, sage green, ivory and warm rust-orange, creating a pattern that is almost impossible to stop looking at.
What makes this particular slab especially impressive is the size and abundance of its orbicular formations. Some appear as small clustered circles, while others have grown into enormous overlapping structures with beautifully defined concentric rings. Several contain pale crystalline centers, and one of the largest formations opens into a sparkling crystal-lined vug, giving the piece wonderful depth and texture.
Also sold under the trade names Money Jasper and Indonesian Bloodstone, this unusual material is prized for its complex patterns and earthy color combinations. Every cut reveals a completely different arrangement, making each slab genuinely one of a kind.
At approximately 6 1/2 inches across at its widest point, this is a substantial specimen with tremendous visual impact. The polished face beautifully showcases the intricate patterns, while the natural edges preserve some of the stone’s original character.
Display it intact as a striking piece of natural art, or imagine the incredible cabochons a lapidary artist could create from those individual orbicular patterns.
