Clear Fluorite on Sphalerite
A striking, collector-focused specimen of crystal-clear fluorite dramatically perched on a dark, sparkling matrix believed to be sphalerite. While clear fluorite itself is known from many localities, this specimen’s formation is distinctly uncommon: rather than ordinary sharp cubes, the fluorite has been naturally etched by later mineral-rich fluids.
That process partially dissolved the original crystals and created an intricate sculptural surface of tiny cubic windows, skeletal edges, deep pockets, and coral-like intergrowths. The result is an exceptionally textured, three-dimensional fluorite display—far more unusual than a standard fluorite cluster.
The clear fluorite takes on a beautiful smoky-gray appearance where it overlays the dark matrix beneath, creating dramatic contrast and depth. Under long-wave UV, it shows a subtle blue fluorescence.
A memorable natural mineral sculpture for collectors drawn to unusual crystal habits, geological processes, and specimens that reward close inspection.
